While wealthier travelers might see the Overstay as being a form of flophouse, budget travelers swear by the value provided by its cool but affordable accommodation options. Located in Thon Buri’s Charansanitwong Road, on the other side of the Chao Phraya River, the Overstay is just a short distance away from Khao San Road. Your journey time (10-30 minutes) to and from Khao San Road will be determined by the volume of traffic and the vehicle you’re using. A bargain base These days, 50 baht (US$1.70) doesn’t usually get you very much - perhaps a burger and fries at McDonald’s? But, you’ll be surprised to discover, this modest sum will in fact get you a dorm bed at the Overstay. There are 10 beds in the dorm area, which is cooled with an industrial-strength fan.
