However, the 7-series hybrid scores with an impressive balance between performance and fuel economy - substantially quicker than the LS600h yet as frugal.

Like the 7-series, the S-class comes with a mild hybrid but focuses more on economy rather than performance. The figures explain it all - the S400 Hybrid is slower than both 7 ActiveHybrid and LS600h but significantly more economical on fuel.
