- Carlsson, a German after-market tuner specialising in Mercedes-Benz, has developed its first supercar in the guise of the C25 as seen in these official handouts. The two-door sports car is based on Mercedes's CL flagship coupe'.
- The engine also comes from Stuttgart: 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine tuned to 753hp and 1,150Nm. Carlsson says the C25 sprints from 0-100kph in 3.7sec - putting itself in the league of brand-owned supercars - before calling it the day at 352kph.
- To match such stellar performance, the C25 comes with the looks to die for - very much along the lines of Mercedes's own SL65 AMG Black Series. However, Carlsson stresses that no big rear spoiler is needed to keep the C25 well-planted to the tarmac.
- Coping with the stupendous outputs are 405mm and 380mm racing brakes installed in front and rear 20-inch wheels, which are shod with 265/30 and 325/25 rubbers. The alloys themselves are each claimed to weigh only 11.2kg - 40% lighter than regular rims.
- Carlsson says it doesn't want to compromise on the C25's real-world driving characteristics, so it has fitted the car with active suspension. As well, safety features like anti-lock brakes, stability control and airbags come as standard.
- As its badge suggests, only 25 will be built - and Carlsson says they are is already sold out. Price hasn't been mentioned, although European sources suggest an on-road price of some B20m. That translates to B60m in Thailand including taxes - roughly the price of the limited-production Lexus LFA.
ONE LAST THING: Thought that the world economy is still on the respirator? Brace for more lavish cars during the run-up to next month's Geneva motor show.
