The chief of a security unit in the southern border provinces reaffirms the surveillance blimp commissioned for the area is efficient for security operations. Commander of the Joint Civilian, Police, Military Task Force, Lieutenant General Kasikorn Kirisri, said yesterday's trial of the blimp already showed it can be put into use and he believes it will help support security operations, particularly in areas officials cannot access. Lieutenant General Kasikorn also dismissed concerns over the safety of the blimp's use, saying it has an advanced safety system. The Army purchased the blimp and related devices at 350 million baht, of which 260 million was for the airship, 70 million for a pair of daytime and nighttime cameras and 20 million for the communication gears at ground stations. |
